March 20th

Targa South West is the second largest Tarmac Rally event in WA with competitors fighting for the podium on some of the most picturesque roads in the state's South West Karri forests.

Rally HQ is based in Pemberton - approximately 3.5 hours drive South of Perth with crews thrown up against some of the most challenging special stages in WA tarmac rallying. Targa South West is also home to the fastest rally stage in WA with average speeds exceeding 170km/h despite a number of chicanes and a 200km/h limit.

One of the most successful events for Team MGR with outright wins in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

LIVE ACTION

Spectators

Big Brook Dam North / South

Spectators catch all the action from the first four stages from this single vantage point as teams carve their way to and from the Big Brook Dam.

The return stage direction back towards the Pemberton town site means competitors must brake from 200km/h to navigate a blind right hand turn. This tricky corner has been the scene for many an incident over the years.

Pump Hill

Spectators can get right up close and see the cars launch from the stage start located near the Pemberton Sports club.

Another great vantage point with the cars visible for some time as they navigate their way around the park on Pump Hill Road before firing over the bridge and into the forest.

Gloucester

The scream of engines and blipping throttles somewhere deep in the forest can be heard from miles away at this quiet isolated spectator point. Competitiors fire out of the dense bush through an extremely fast unsettling left hander then straight towards the spectator point before a hard right turn.

Spectators catch a great view of cars squirming around under brakes - a clear demonstration of those who are pushing and those who are REALLY pushing!

Pembertown Town Stage

Spectators have multiple access points throughout the stage as competitors throw their vehicles right past the front yards and driveways of Pembertown town residents.

These late day stages are often run into the darkness resulting in some spectatular viewing for spectators with glowing brake rotors, underbody sparks and belching flames from cars being driven at 10/10ths.

Up Close

Pemberton Service Park

Spectators are free to wander through the service park set up near the Pemberton Sports Club. This provides up close access to the cars and allows spectators to have a chat with the competitors.

Northcliffe Lunch Break

The local residents of Northcliffe provide welcome hospitalty for competitors and spectators in the centre of town during the re-group for the run back towards Pemberton.
